Introducing The Christopher Chronicles
Dead Chicken Soup for the Soul
Written by Kenya Johnson, Birthday girl, author, fellow Mom Blog Society member and bloggy writer friend
Her editor says “This book is for every adult who has ever been left speechless by a child and had to hold back their laughter.”
I have to agree! Kenya has a talent for humor! I know my son may say funny things, but it’s so hard to get the words and tone down the same way he said it. Kenya creatively captures “Christopherisms” from page one:
“While eating chicken, Christopher said: ‘Mom is this REAL chicken?’ I said ‘Yes.’ He said, “So this is a DEAD chicken?’ My response, ‘Yes son.’ After a moment ‘Is BBQ chicken DEAD, too?’ ” Great start to this fun book.
My personal favorite: “I’ll get the door for you, mom, because you have so many jobs.” Boys love their moms!
Kenya’s book is so fun, light-hearted and easy to read. Each “Christopherism” makes you want to read the next to find out what he will say next. I had to read the whole book and then go back to pick out my favorites. 🙂 This book is intended for all the moms and dads out there, the ones who always say: “Kids say the darnedest things.” Now they can read about those things in The Christopher Chronicles. My son read the book as well. He’s nine, so of them he just looked at me, “I don’t get it, Mom.” My reply, “You will when you’re older.” He knew better than to mention he didn’t want to get “older” like me.
I give The Christopher Chronicles 5 out of 5 stars! The cover is wonderfully done and gives you a great preview for what’s inside. You won’t want to put this 99-page book down. Not only that, it would make a great Christmas gift for just about any adult who needs a little laughter in their life. I can’t wait for the next one to come out.
I can’t forget to mention my son’s favorite, remember he’s a 9 year-old boy: “Checking out his man parts: ‘What’s inside here? Peanuts?’ ”
