Review by Mom Does Reviews:
I so love to get shiny, brand new children’s books in the mail. Even though my son is nine years-old, we still love to read any book we can get our hands on. The only difference is now he reads to me. When we picked up the mail, he read me “Super Blake and the Cavity Monster” from the backseat while I was driving. I am a big believer in using my time wisely 🙂 It’s so fun to listen to your child read a picture book aloud. The only problem was I couldn’t get the full effect of the story without seeing the great illustrations!
Super Blake isn’t an ordinary boy, he’s got a super active imagination that takes him anywhere he wants to go. Blake isn’t Super because of what he eats, he says you are what you say and what you do. How true! I love these simple yet powerful truths that are found throughout the story. Blake believed life was about right now. He was a hero because of the kindness he showed every day. This book 1 of 8 introduces us to Blake and shows how he takes on his first “Battle.” Just as every child should, Blake knows about his teeth and what happens when you don’t take care of them. Blake uses his super power to teach other children how to fight the Cavity Monster and his sidekicks. Brushing and flossing save the day!
I highly recommend this fun, rhyming, super hero book for all children ages 3 to 7. Kids love to learn about their teeth through super heroes and villains. Super Blake could be inside your child, give them some tights and a cape and see what kind of hero they will make.
My favorite part of the book is Blake’s philosophy of life. He lives the way we all should live: in the here and now. We need to be more like Blake and be known for our kind and loving acts.
My son and I both loved The Cavity Monster and his side-kicks Sir Plaque and Ginger Vitis. Of course, boys love the villains and the gross stuff. Their names are perfect and their illustrations are fun and creative. All the illustrations are very colorful and fit the story perfectly. I love the personality that shows through in each character. Every details adds just the right touch to this fun story.
I can’t wait to hear about Super Blake’s next battle! I wonder who he will tackle next?
