Disclaimer: I was provided with a free Surf Sharks gift package in return for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed herein are my own and not influenced by the developing company, and/or its affiliates, in anyway.
My little guy is a shark fanatic! He loves all things sharks and spends several hours watching them on our aquarium trips. He even enjoys watching shark documentaries on television. Did I mention he just turned four? Yes, my toddler has enjoyed watching his Shark Week reruns since he was two! – I think he is the perfect kid to try out Surf Sharks!
All of my children have enjoyed our Surf Sharks Gift Pack. (Even my teenagers!) I think our favorite part was the fun facts on the back of the stickers. They are fun, educational, and sometimes funny. Take a look at a few of the fun facts below:
Surf Sharks Fun Shark Facts!
“Tiger Shark: Tiger sharks are some serious beasts when it comes to size, taking third in the sea behind the Great White and the Whale shark.”
“Saw Shark: These dudes are named after their gnarly saw like snout. Saw sharks come in handy when slicing watermelons, sandwiches, or cutting the cheese.”
Do you see why my children loved these so much? Not only were the stickers bright, colorful, and educational… they will stick to your child’s clothing ALL DAY! Even if you have a little one who likes to take them off and on again!
I hope they create a sticker package for business and restaurants to purchase. I already sent an email to a Pacific Beach restaurant owner suggesting he get some for his customers! Seriously, wouldn’t your little one love these stickers while waiting for a meal at your favorite beach-side restaurant? They spark conversation, give the kids something to look forward to, they can collect them like trading cards…
Surf Sharks The First Ride, Book Review:
My littlest ones enjoy looking at the vibrant pictures, and relating the stickers they hold to the characters in the book. They won’t sit for a full reading of the book yet, so we read a page or two at a time; then they continue to turn pages and talk about what they see.
Just as the developers do with the stickers, they sneak in educational information throughout the entire book. The first ride brings awareness to the use of shark nets, touches on anatomy facts for each shark, tells important information, and provides children with a LOVE of sharks instead of fear. What is even better about all of this, is that all of this information is written within the storyline so the kids don’t even realize they are learning! (As a homeschooling mom, I could create an entire lesson plan from this ONE book! I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of this series!)
My only complaint is that the book is not durable. We have already repaired several pages that have fallen away from the binding. If your child loves looking at the book as much as mine do, you will need to arm yourself with tape to keep the pages in place.
I think the book is a great addition to any personal, classroom, or public library. My family loves the gift set and looks forward to seeing more from them in the near future.
