My kids and I used to attend workshops at our local home repair store several times a month. At those shops, the kids would be given a package with materials to put their own toy together. It was an activity the kids looked forward to attending and they always made sure to mark it on the family calendar.
My littlest bunch is now reaching the age where they want to participate in building workshops too. They have a strong desire to build, create, and to accomplish something themselves. My greatest struggle is that much of what I have found at specialty stores is for children who are elementary age or higher. This is disappointing because I know they want more out of play.
Kipod toys were developed by Alex after several years of hosting workshops for children. During her workshops, she learned that all children love to create and this makes them happy. Her goal is to “make every kid happy through creation and play.”
Each Kipod package comes with all of the materials needed to create the toy selected. The only thing your child will need to add to the project is their own scissors, hands, and guidance from an adult.
Pom Pom Animals:
Assemble a uniquely designed fun-filled toy: A great combination of the softness of the pompoms with the smooth feel of high quality wood.
The “pom pom animals” unique combination provides a great creative activity alongside development of cognitive and motor skills for kids.
Just follow the simple assembly instruction with your kids and create your own high quality toy.
Suitable for ages 4 and up
Funny Creatures:
Let your kids create their own unique and funny creatures. This outstanding toy offers many awesome assembly options and hours of fun by its great design. Use the smooth wooden parts with the imaginative stickers to allow your kids imagination come to life.
Challenge your kids to create their own creatures while improving their fine motor skills.
Suitable for ages 4 and up
Side Notes:
Baby Girl and I just watched the video together and she was so excited to see Kipod. She laughed at the kids being silly and clapped when they were all done and had completed their projects. She said “so cute” when she saw the completed pom pom animals and even waved goodbye to the kids at the end.
What a great reward gift!!! My Big Guy will be restarting OT this month and I know scissors are going to be on the list of tasks he will be working with. I would love to have this as a surprise for him once he masters cutting with his occupational therapist!
Are you working with your preschooler on textures, cutting, imagination activities, cognitive skills (such as visual processing), dexterity and fine motor skills? If so, you have to take a look at these Kipod toys!
Help Fund Kipod:
Kipod is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to help fund their workshop boxes. They have explored all of the avenues necessary to make sure they are providing a safe product for children now they need to make it a reality! Will you help?
I’m looking forward to seeing Kipod funded because I am excited to see a workshop package that is designed for younger children that doesn’t contain plastics. Have you looked at creativity kits in your local crafting store? Almost everything they offer for children is plastic! Kipod offers wooden workshop kits for children that can be recreated again later, and even handed down as a heirloom toy! Yes, I believe the toys children make with Kipod are timeless.
For example: Five years ago my nine year old would have been thrilled to create a white sheep or orange lion, but now that she is getting older, she would prefer to make those toys more fitting to her personality. We could take her lion, remove the orange pom pom, and remake it with a glittery rainbow colored yarn, or a bright purple even. Kipod kits allow for the toy to be made over and over again – changing as the child’s interest change.
