I signed my son up for the Power up and Read Summer Reading Challenge. We even entered his reading minutes for the week. We will be starting a FAMILY competition at our house as well. We have a chart- based on the honor system, and we write down how many minutes we read an actual book or magazine. Just looking at the computer doesn’t count. I wonder who will win? I love to read, but I need to MAKE time to read.
One of the books we received, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, is a family favorite already! It’s a very thick book, but has amazing illustrations. We can’t wait to dive into it. The only thing stopping us is my son’s book report book that he needs to finish first.
Sign up for the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge today and start entering the minutes your child reads every day. Be sure to look up your school so the minutes can be added to YOUR school!

What fun is life if you can’t laugh? We love to read and love to read books that make ALL of us Laugh! Even though my son is 12 years old, we still read together. We don’t read out loud at bedtime like we used to, but we all read the same book series so we can laugh about the funny parts and talk about the confusing parts.
