Someone Else’s Shoes- music with a message
SOMEONE ELSE’S SHOES is the third release in the critically acclaimed Best Foot Forward series. This album of children’s music features many contrasting styles and teaches our kids lessons of empathy, caring, and understanding, with songs chosen for their ability to engage, educate, entertain, and encourage children to think about both their own feelings and those of others.
My Review:
When kids music is fun and teaches at the same time, it automatically gets a big thumbs up from me! Someone Else’s Shoes if an bluesy-folk mix of fun songs that teach children to have empathy, compassion, accept other’s differences and feelings. I have to say that Talk a Walk in Someone Else’s Shoes, the title track, is my favorite song on the CD. It’s so important to think about what someone else may be going through. Kids are so centered around themselves, this is a lesson that should be taught from when children are very young. My son and I talk about this a lot. If one of his friends has trouble at school, doesn’t have the coolest toys or can’t come to a party. His friends all come from different backgrounds and we talk about that when he questions things. When kids learn to walk in someone else’s shoes, they become better people, better friends and more understanding.
This CD is a great resource for teaching about bullying. My son’s school has a big anti-bullying campaign and I will recommend this CD to the music and guidance departments. I highly recommend this CD to parents and educators alike to reinforce raising compassionate kids.
My son’s favorite song is Feel the World Dancing. He loves to dance so this song is perfect for him. He liked the whole CD actually, but the last track was his favorite.
