5 Secrets To A Great Birthday Party

July 17, 2013 by Pam Maynard

When you want to make sure you throw a great birthday party, there are five secrets you need to know. This will ensure that you plan everything properly and that you as well as everyone else has a great time. Whoever the birthday girl or boy is, you want to make sure that there is a significant amount of entertainment and that every aspect of the party has been thought of.

Secret #1 – Everything is easier with a theme. According to Rachel Ray Magazine, there are a variety of party decorating ideas. Once you create a centerpiece for the birthday party, it is easy to watch everything else come together.

Secret #2 – Create entertainment. There has to be fun and games – especially when it comes to a kid’s birthday party. Using a jumper or bounce house is a great way to make sure the kids are entertained throughout the duration of the party. With different themed jumpers, you can find ones for boys, girls, and ones for all ages. The bounce house can be delivered to a variety of venues or to your own house when you want to keep the party on a budget.

Secret #3 – Go outside the box with food. When you plan a party, you have to consider what you are going to serve everyone –and that means what will be served in addition to the birthday cake. The Food Network offers a variety of different finger foods that can be served at a birthday party to ensure people are well fed while attending the party.

Regardless of whether you are feeding kids or kids and adults, there will be simple recipes that you can put together. You don’t have to hire a caterer and you don’t have to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. There are plenty of shortcuts that can be taken and you can prepare a significant amount of food the day before.

Secret #4 – Plan ahead. You want to make sure that you plan out the entire birthday party ahead of time to ensure you don’t have any awkward moments where there is nothing to do. While you may have some entertainment planned, there are going to be those in-between moments when cake and presents need to be taken care of. Before you lead up to the big events, you want to have some other things to do on the agenda. This can be something as simple as presenting more food or something as involved as planning a few different games for everyone. Depending on how social everyone is, it might be advantageous to keep a few backup ideas hidden in the house in case you need to break into them.

Secret #5 – Pay attention to who is coming. When you want to have a great birthday party, you have to look at who is going to be in attendance. It’s great when you know more about those who will be coming so you can ensure you are choosing the right foods and the right entertainment.

Especially when you have rambunctious children coming to the party, tossing all of them into a bounce house can be a good idea because it gives them a chance to get rid of some of their pent up energy. While they’re inside the bounce house, it will also give the adults a chance to talk and mingle without kids in the way.

A great birthday party requires some planning. It’s impossible for everything to fall into place without a little planning. Now that you know the five secrets to a great party, your next one can be a success.
