Our first year of homeschooling we opted to have a family stash of school supplies instead of allowing each of our children to have their own. My kids weren’t too thrilled about this and I didn’t really understand why.
The following year my husband and I decided to give each child a school supplies allowance to purchase the cute back to school supplies they wanted for their personal collection. If you have never done this before, I strongly suggest you do. It will tell you a lot about your child’s personality. Each of my three school-aged children ended up with completely different school supplies. My oldest daughter went straight for the modern colors and designs, while our younger daughter was all about cute animals. My son, he selected an abundance of markers and color pencils because he didn’t want to be “stuck” using crayons.
