Last year I shared all of my favorite PEEPS® recipes with you. My PEEPS® Sweet Milk and PEEPS® Oatmeal were so good, I had to do something with them again for you this year. I started out by exploring PEEPS® with my children, from a child’s perspective. My young daughter and I made our PEEPS® talk and hop about on our plates. It was funny, silly, and put the biggest smile on her face (kids love it when you play like a kid with them). A few moments later she took her beautiful pink PEEPS® and sat it atop of her cookie declaring her’s was “Queen of All PEEPS®!” — and it hit me! Our PEEPS® needed a throne.
How to Throne Your PEEPS®
Ingredients & Supplies:
- PEEPS®
- White Melting Chocolate
- Cookies
- Jelly Beans (optional)
- Wax Paper
- Cooling rack
Directions:
Melt white chocolate according to the package directions. Dip cookies in white chocolate, completely covering all sides and set atop a resting rack. Before the chocolate sets on the cookie, top the cookie with a single PEEPS®. Allow cookie to rest until the chocolate hardens.
Add Jelly Beans to a few of your chocolate covered cookies for a little variety!
Of course, we didn’t stop there! My daughter had to have her throned PEEPS® in a basket. — I have to tell you though, my first attempt was delicious, but looked terrible. I tried to make my basket on the backside of a bowl and it was too thin. It crumbled into tiny pieces when I removed the wax paper. My second attempt was easier and succeeded.
PEEPS® in a Basket
Ingredients & Supplies:
- White Melting Chocolate
- Wax Paper
- Pencil/Marker
- Piping Bag/Plastic Bag
- Edible Easter Grass or Jelly Beans (optional)
Directions:
Draw the outline of your basket sides and bottom on the underside of your wax paper. Flip paper over.
Melt chocolate according to package directions. Pour into piping bag/plastic bag and pipe chocolate onto the wax paper. (Try to keep the outer edges as square as possible.) If you choose, make chocolate basket handle. Allow chocolate to set.
After the chocolate pieces are hardened, remove them from the wax paper and assemble together using additional melted chocolate as “glue”.
What will you do with your PEEPS® this year?
