The Perfect Boston Butt BBQ Recipe
Ingredients:
Boston Butt
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Cavender’s Greek Seasoning
McCormick Spicy Montreal
Your Favorite Grilling Rub (we use Legg’s Old Plantation Barbecue Seasoning and Rub)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 275 degrees.
Generously dust the Boston Butt with the garlic and onion powder, Cavender’s Greek Seasoning, and McCormick Spicy Montreal on all sides.
Thoroughly coat the Boston Butt with your favorite grilling rub, pressing it into the meat.
Wrap tightly in aluminum foil and place in a foil lined baking pan (for easy cleanup).
Bake approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours.
Remove from oven and place on grill. We prefer a charcoal grill and combine a few apple wood chips to the charcoal to produce smoke.
Continue grilling until butt is cooked through (approximately 2 hours for a small butt)
Remove from grill and chop to prepare for sandwiches.
If you are preparing for a get-together, you can chop half and slice the rest to suit different preferences.
Using a jumbo hamburger bun, pile high with the Boston Butt. Top with homemade Cole Slaw or skip for those that don’t like slaw.
There is no sauce needed unless you prefer it. If so, simply top your sandwich with your favorite BBQ sauce.
Serve with grilled corn on the cob and homemade baked beans for a complete meal!
Enjoy!
NOTES:
- Oven and grilling times will vary depending upon the size of the Boston Butt. If using a whole Butt, cut in half before cooking.
- Seasoning amounts are very forgiving.
- If you prefer sauce, it can be served on top of the sandwich or mixed with the meat – even though, the meat is tender, juicy, and packed with the flavors of the seasonings.
